Memorial for Miriam
Miriam was young and charming,
Quite pretty and very disarming,
A Japanese of Jewish persuasion,
She opened a night club
In a Lower Eastside location,
With kosher food and a Klezmer band,
One of the top places in the land,
She became well known far and wide,
With a lively club, busy every night,
But then Miriam got sick and passed away,
And the club closed up the very next day.
Years have passed, but people say
That on foggy nights, on Hester Street,
You can still hear a Klezmer band play...
