There was a man
With class and style,
A politician, well worthwhile,
A statesman with vision,
Circumspect, who always
Made the right decision,
A man beyond
Lobbyists' seduction,
Impervious to corruption,
A man intent on helping
The ageing and the common folk,
Gave them security
Removed their poverty's yoke,
A man with energy and zest,
Our America's very best,
For many years we looked in vain
To find such quality again,
But see our country now awash
With politicians who are trash.
