Mermaid

On a hot and humid night
By the moon's silvery light,
I sail across the China Sea,
When suddenly I see
A lovely mermaid
Beckoning me,
To join her in her place
'neath the great sea,
But then I spy her silver tail,
And then I know,
Our affair would fail.
