To my Young Friend
Spurn me not
With your usual scorn,
I was around
Ere you were born,
Taken many a degree
To make a better man of me,
Been through
The Holocaust and war,
Seen Einstein, Freud,
Hitler - the Czar,
Seen men die
And women cry,
Seen the devil,
Felt his sting,
Been touched by angels
With their wing,
But as I learn and grow,
I fully realize
How little we all know,
And you, my friend,
Should not walk tall,
Thinking,
You know it all.
