Return from Andromeda

They traveled at the
Speed of light
To the Andromeda galaxy,
While time for them stood still,
And when they returned
Eons of ages from their departure
They found the earth
To be a radioactive desert,
Life long ago wiped out
By an atomic war, a moonscape,
With no place for them to go...
