Moderation

A prudent nation
Must live in moderation
Not have the spleen
To live above its mean,
On credit cards to lean,
To live a merry day
And never pay
For when one borrows
It invites sorrows,
Foreclosure and dispossession,
Inflation and depression,
This is more or less,
Why we're in the present mess.
