Brother, can you spare a dime?

Brother can you spare
a ten dollar bill,
I need a cup of coffee,
in this cold I feel a chill,
they foreclosed my home
and I live outdoors
on sidewalks of stone.

How strange, I thought,
with this inflation
sweeping the nation
in this recent time,
a ten dollar bill
is worth a 1929 dime.
