Power Elite

One cannot beat
the power elite,
they change
like chameleons
to suit the regime
in order to dominate
the political scene,
once they were kings
and aristocrats,
then they were the Nazi
and Communist autocrats,
now days they are
bureaucratic democrats,
those very clever predators
who manipulate the scores,
always grabbing the gold
while plain folks are
left in the cold...
