Somali Pirates and the Yanks

Civil war and starvation
haunt the Somali nation,
overfishing and pollution
almost brought their fishing
industry into dissolution
and their only solution
was a profitable piracy,
thus, a starving teenager,
persuaded to join,
was caught by the Yanks at sea.

When they put him in jail
he did not cry or wail
but broadly smiled
about his lucky score
for now he's better off
than in Somalia before
facing neither death nor starvation
but ample food, a place of his own
with a secure future and recreation.
