Gods or Maggots?

It all depends
On what supposition
We want to put
On the human condition,
Are we the gods or intellect
Of this great universe
With powers to direct
Or just a passing incident
Without prior precedent,
A short interval
Of the specie - man
With no significance at all,
Or are we the maggots
Cleaning up a dying planet,
Removing all the garbage on it?

Yes - we can decide to see
Whatever we believe to be,
But man's true identity
So far, has been a mystery.
