Clown

He is a circus clown,
wanders from
town to town,
sleeps in a wagon,
entertains in a tent,
always laughing,
joking, content,
people say he looks
happy and well,
but behind the masque
lives an inner hell
reflecting the
quiet desperation
now prevalent
in our nation.
