On the village's border land
the Gypsy wagons stand
and at night one can hear
music of the Gypsy band
telling their melancholy story
of their wanderings and lost glory,
full of passion is each tune
played beneath a shining moon,
Gypsy music breaking the heart
about a people quite apart...

Auschwitz 1945

There's a section in this camp
where they gassed the Gypsy band,
It is said, strangers passing by
hear Gypsy music from the sky,
could be the wind rustling in the trees
or the Gypsies who never found peace...
