On Starlit Nights

On starlit nights
I think of you,
Of times so long ago
When our love
Was fresh and new,
Where are you now?
I have no clue,
Why did you leave?
What did I do?
My one great love ,
You left me feeling blue,
Wherever, my beloved,
You may be,
Do you still, sometimes,
Think of me?

In spite of it all...

The past haunts me
And the future seems stark,
Uncertain and dark,
While the present is in turmoil,
Yet, I go on and on,
Live, dream, hope and toil...

She caught me

Seems I've heard that song before
When my fourth wife
Showed me the door,
For I don't earn any money
And my prospects are not sunny
And she caught me with my bunny.

She Promised

She promised me
To love, honor and obey
On our wedding day,
But all her promises
Turned into
Aggravation and dismay
And soon we parted
To go our separate way.

Greener Grass

The neighbor's grass
Is always greener,
His luck and timing
Always keener,
But were we to change places,
We would have seen
That our grass was just as green.

Beyond our Dreams

Beyond our dreams
There lies the never-never land,
Those regions to open
By some magic wand,
Sought after by all mankind
And yet impossible to find,
Looked for throughout history
As life's hidden mystery.

Johnny on the Spot

He is Johnny on the spot,
Always there and always hot,
Full of great pretension,
The center of attention,
Though admired and liked well,
A good appearance
But an empty shell.

Oblivion

Gods, let this mortal coil
Melt into oblivion
Rather than suffer the consequences
Of an existence wracked with pain
And the misfortunes of an ebbing life,
Let the descent be fast, not slow,
Into that peaceful slumber
Which is the destiny of all mankind.

Ice Cream

"When our new regime
Takes over,
You'll eat ice cream,
Be in clover",
But as reply
I did submit,
"Don't like ice cream,
Not a bit",
"Don't fight it",
They said,
"You'll eat it
And like it".

Cheney

"Seventy percent
Of people say,
This useless war
Should end",
I said to Cheney,
Our Vice President,
"Doesn't it bother you
To know?",
And Cheney answered
Glibly: "So?"

Decisions

In my marriage,
Big decisions I make,
In small decisions
My wife has her stake,
No big decisions ever came up,
Seems, I made a mistake.

End Game

It's the end game
And I know it,
It's the last
Life's circus bit,
Gone the pleasures
And the joy
Of life's precious
Little toy,
It's now sinister and scary,
All the rest is commentary...

Life

Rather chose finality
Than continue a life
Without quality.

Vienna 2008

Like a salmon
Swimming upstream,
I returned to my beloved Vienna,
Where I first saw the light of day,
Only to find a glossy, painted shell
Trying to attract tourists
With their long lost glory days...
